CAIMANFIELD · Terms of sale

The terms on which this house quotes.

Eighteen clauses covering how an enquiry becomes an order, who carries the customs burden for a crocodilian hide, and which law applies when something is disputed.

01

Acceptance

These terms govern your use of caimanfield.com and any quotation, invoice or supply of goods by BIG DOG TRADING LIMITED. By sending an enquiry, accepting a quotation or paying an invoice, you accept them. If you deal with us on behalf of a company, you confirm that you may bind that company. If you do not accept these terms, do not place an order; nothing here removes a right that the law does not allow us to remove.

02

This site is an enquiry showcase

There is no checkout on this site, no shopping cart that takes payment, and no card details are collected or stored here. Prices, dimensions, hide availability and photographs are shown for information and may change. An enquiry list is a note of interest, not a reservation of stock. A sale happens only through the written process in clause 03.

03

Quotations and when a contract is formed

We answer enquiries by email or WhatsApp with availability, price, lead time and freight options. That reply is an invitation to treat, not an offer. A contract is formed only when we issue a written confirmation or invoice identifying the piece, the hide lot, the price and the delivery terms, and you accept it in writing or pay the deposit or full amount stated in it. Until then we may decline an order, for example if a hide has been sold or if an export permit cannot be obtained.

04

Prices and currency

Prices are quoted in US dollars (USD) unless the written quotation says otherwise. The price that governs is the one in our confirmation email, not any figure shown earlier on this website. Prices exclude destination import duty, value added tax, brokerage and any customs inspection cost unless the confirmation states DDP. We may correct an obvious typographical or pricing error before a contract is formed, and we will tell you rather than quietly alter an invoice after payment.

05

Payment

Payment is by bank transfer or another method named on the invoice. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, goods are made and dispatched after cleared funds. Bank charges and currency conversion costs are borne by the payer. We never ask for card details by email or WhatsApp; if you receive such a request it is not from us. Payment instructions are valid only when they appear on an invoice bearing the name BIG DOG TRADING LIMITED.

06

Lead times

We dispatch from Hong Kong. Standard pieces are packed within three working days of cleared payment. Made-to-order and personalised pieces take longer, and the lead time in the confirmation email is the one that applies. Lead times are estimates given in good faith and depend on tannery deliveries, permit processing and courier capacity. We will tell you promptly if a date moves, and you may cancel an order that has not been started if the revised date is unacceptable to you.

07

Delivery, risk and title

Delivery is complete when the courier delivers to the address on the invoice, or when you or your agent collect the goods. Risk passes on delivery. Title passes only when we have received payment in full, cleared, for the goods and any freight we have paid on your behalf. You must give a delivery address and telephone number that the courier can actually use, and you must check the parcel on arrival and report visible damage as described in returns.

08

Import duties, permits and CITES clearance

Crocodilian goods move under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). We supply the export permit and re-export documentation for the hide we ship, and the commercial invoice a broker needs. Everything after that belongs to the buyer: any import permit, pre-convention certificate, import notification or clearance your country requires, the duty, VAT, brokerage and inspection fees, and the appointment of a broker if you need one. You are the importer of record.

You must tell us before we ship if your country restricts crocodilian imports, if a permit is required, or if you already hold one. If you do not, and the shipment is refused, held or returned by customs, the order is not refundable except as stated in returns: we refund the price of the goods less the outbound freight, the return freight and any duty or storage we have had to pay. We are not liable for a delay caused by permit processing or customs inspection, and we cannot backdate a permit. Where the confirmation email states DDP, we will name the party responsible for clearance; in every other case it is you.

09

Returns and cancellation

Returns, faults, transit damage and the 14-day window are governed by the returns policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: unused pieces in original wrap may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund less outbound freight; genuine faults are repaired, replaced or refunded at your choice with freight paid by us; personalised and made-to-order pieces are not returnable for a change of mind. An order may be cancelled before work begins, subject to any hide already cut for you.

10

Hides, sizes and images

Crocodilian hides vary between animals and between positions on one animal. Scale pattern, grain, colour depth and surface tone differ from hide to hide, and they change with use as the surface takes on patina. Hand-cut pieces carry a size tolerance of roughly two to three millimetres against the listed dimensions. Photographs are representative, not a guarantee of the exact hide you will receive. None of this is a defect. Descriptions of species, finish and lining are accurate to the best of our knowledge, and we do not describe embossed leather as crocodile.

11

Intellectual property

The CAIMANFIELD name, wordmark, page copy, product photography and page design on this site belong to us or are used with permission. You may view, download and print pages for the purpose of considering or placing an enquiry. You may not copy the site, resell our images, use our name in a way that suggests endorsement, or present our copy as your own. Wholesale partners may use our images and product data only under a written agreement.

12

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to interfere with the site, probe it for vulnerabilities without written permission, scrape it at volume, or use the enquiry form to send unlawful, misleading or abusive material. Do not use our name or documentation to make a false claim about the origin, species or legality of goods. We may refuse to deal with anyone who does, and we may report conduct that appears to be a criminal offence.

13

Third-party links and services

This site links to WhatsApp and may link to couriers or customs authorities for your convenience. Those services are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content, availability, security or terms. If you open a third-party service, its own terms and privacy notice apply to what you do there.

14

Disclaimer

We keep the information on this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that every page is free of error or that a piece will be available at the price shown. Nothing on this site is advice on the import law of your country; you should check with your own customs authority or broker before ordering. Goods are supplied with the benefit of the warranties in the returns policy and any non-excludable statutory rights you have.

15

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the price you paid for the goods in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business or goodwill, or for a delay caused by customs, a courier, a tannery or another event outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16

Force majeure

We are not in breach of these terms if performance is delayed or prevented by an event beyond our reasonable control: typhoon, flood, fire, epidemic, labour dispute, courier failure, export or import restriction, a change in CITES or customs practice, or the failure of a tannery to deliver a hide of the agreed grade. We will tell you promptly and agree a new date, or refund any amount paid for goods not supplied.

17

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and the parties submit to that jurisdiction. Before either side starts proceedings, we ask that you raise the matter with us in writing under clause 18 and allow a reasonable time for a reply. Where mandatory consumer law in your country gives you the right to bring a claim locally, that right is unaffected.

18

Changes, severability and contact

We may update these terms for future orders; the version in force for your order is the one published when the contract is formed, and the date at the foot of this page shows the current version. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest continues in force. The seller is BIG DOG TRADING LIMITED, ROOM B, UNIT 9, 7/F, WAH SHING CENTRE, NO. 11 SHING YIP STREET, KWUN TONG, HONG KONG.
